Zero commute. Sponsors, speakers and budgets above ₹20,000 a night. - **Kalina · Santacruz East** — 3–5 km · Line 3, 1–2 stops; 10–15 min off-peak. Big rooms and serviced residences. Good for teams on longer stays. - **Bandra West** — 4–6 km · no metro, autos; 15–20 min off-peak. Cafés, bars and the best restaurants. Few rooms, so book early. - **Airport zone** — 7–10 km · Line 3, 12–18 min; 15–25 min off-peak. Most rooms and the steadiest rates. The honest pick for late bookers. - **South Mumbai** — 19–24 km · Line 3, ~30–35 min; 35–50 min off-peak. Heritage and sea. A Diwali-weekend base, not a daily commute. ## Good to know - **Morning traffic flows into BKC, evening out.** From 9 to 11 am every road into BKC crawls at about 17 km/h. From 6 to 9 pm it reverses. Stay outside BKC and you ride against the flow only if you leave in the morning or arrive in the evening. - **Line 3 is the only rail that matters.** Airport T2 to BKC in about 15 minutes for ₹10–70. First train 05:55, last 22:30. There is no metro on the west side, so Bandra West and Juhu are autos and cabs. - **UPI works for visitors.** UPI One World gives foreign visitors a prepaid UPI wallet loaded at the airport or a bank branch. Autos, cafés and street food all take it; cash is for tips. - **File the e-Arrival Card.** India's e-Arrival Card is mandatory and filed online in the 72 hours before you land. Have the confirmation ready at immigration. - **November is dry and warm.** Expect 24–33 °C, low humidity by Mumbai standards and no rain. Air quality dips after Diwali fireworks; a mask helps on the Monday. - **Autos are not allowed in South Mumbai.** Auto-rickshaws run north of Bandra and Sion only. South of that it is black-and-yellow taxis or app cabs. ## Diwali weekend - **FRI 06 Nov · Dhanteras** — Devcon closes at 5 pm. Hotel rates step up tonight. - **SAT 07 Nov · Naraka Chaturdashi** — Lanterns on Colaba Causeway. Loud night, cabs surge. - **SUN 08 Nov · Diwali, Lakshmi Puja** — Walk Marine Drive after dark. Markets and banks closed. - **MON 09 Nov · The quiet day** — Museums and Elephanta shut. A good day to fly out. ## Questions ### Is this an official Devcon page? Prices are in US dollars, quoted for the Indian market with taxes included, and refreshed every night for 2–7 November, two adults in one room; each card says when it was last checked. The live rate is confirmed in the app before you pay. ### Which hotels can I really walk from? Two: Trident Bandra Kurla and Sofitel Mumbai BKC are five to eight minutes on foot. Bloom, ibis and Lemon Tree in Kalina are a ten to twenty minute walk in the heat. Everything else is a ride or Metro Line 3. ### What taxes are included? Indian hotel GST is 5% on rooms up to ₹7,500 a night and 18% above that. Every price on this page includes it. Some hotels add a service charge at check-out; the app shows it when the hotel declares it. ### Do I need a visa for India? Most passports need an e-Visa, applied for online at least four days before you fly, and everyone files India's e-Arrival Card in the 72 hours before landing. Nowah's visa checklist covers your passport. ### Should I stay on for Diwali? Devcon ends on Friday 6 November and Diwali is Sunday the 8th. Marine Drive and Colaba light up, markets are packed and most offices are shut.
